Here is a new mix in honour of the coding I did today with someone @ work.
It includes the usual old-skool acid, new-beat and rave.

For my first post in almost a year, I’ve made a retrospective of this year’s releases. This mix contains tracks from all the records I bought that were released this year, excluding rereleases (except Renaissance). Conclusion: a good year for house, and I’m not talking about minimal electrohouse bollocks. Also some electronix and some (dub) techno in the second half of this 2 hour+ mix.
This is it – the Hiphouse megamix that rocked the scene back in the days…
I remember there being a competition to try and select the three Hiphouse tracks that do not suck 
well, this one is loaded with those kind of tracks.

| A couple of years ago I made a mix which was inspired by this book. You can pick it up pretty cheap these days, and I just reread it. Would be nice if someone made a follow up of it. What happened after 1997 etc.
I tried to follow the line of the book a bit, from disco, electro to acid. Then moving on to harder breakbeat stuff upto gabber. Then back to new beat and eventually top 40 material (with as a bonus a great techno track). The gaps between tracks are caused by bad ripping software in the past. |

After watching escape from NY I got the idea to do a mix with tracks that sound like they could be part of a soundtrack. Realisation took a little while, but at least it’s more fitting now at the end of summer. The end result features no songs of actual soundtracks, instead expect some of Jeff Mills’ more experimental outings, some dark The Hague electronix, some artists usually doing IDM, not too many beats, and some playing with the mood of the mix.
