Back in the early 90′s I was earning some extra pocket money together with Crazy T (aka Martijn Sengers). We regularly released compilations or mix tapes which we distributed on school. The money amount was small and not the main reason – we had so much fun doing this! The evangelism had great effect also! In no time most people that mattered to me were playing house, hip-hop, acid and new-beat on their walkmans.
After the other tapes I recently put online, here is a mix, mostly done by Crazy T. Go Bang!

This is probably as old as it gets for me. Unless I find some tapes that I recorded from Ferry Maat’s Soul Show. This is my first complete mix ever, recorded when I was still in high school with nothing more then one record player sans pitch and a cd player. I did have a small mixing device with two channels and a double casette deck. This tape was played a lot in the lunch brake on school in the so-called koffiebar.
I had to borrow some records from someone (Frank) because I didn’t have enough music myself to switch between CD and records all the time. Lots of Go Bang! and R&S material.
Years later I met Frank again somewhere, and it turned out he kept all records on his attic and never listened to them again! I offered to buy them from him, but he didn’t take the bait. Too bad!
The tracklist is not accurate, but you get the idea 
The legendary Spiral Tribe – we have to believe. It is an old tape from, I guess, around 1994 (could be 1993 if you look at some of the tracks). It is called “United Forces of Tekkno”, but the sound is more Acid then Tekkno if you compare it with todays standards.

Here a mix that I attempted to record with Garageband, because I couldn’t find my license for Amadeus. What a crap this Garageband. Too soft, not long enough recording time… Today my #1 todo was find my old license and update to Amadeus Pro.

Update: The third mix of records bought during the last days of Frankey’s clearout sale contains some of the more acidic records I found there. The tempo is roughly between the first and the second mix. The start had some hardtrance off of Rising High & Space Teddy, the rest is proper acid with recors of a.o. Junkfood, Djax-Up-Beats, Synewave and X-Trax.

Update: here’s another mix I did with the records I salvaged at Frankey’s closing down sale. This one contains a lot of the oldschool records I found, although there’s still lots more where that came from. Most range between ’88 and ’92 including lots of R&S material, some Frank de Wulf, some Franky Bones remix work, Shamen remixes, and definitely some acid influences. Still in the pipeline: hardtrance & acid!

On friday the 19th of january Frankey Records in Haarlem closed it’s doors for the last time. Even though I didn’t go there very often anymore lately I still think it’s a shame, I used to shop there very often when I started collecting and found some great stuff there.
But as we all know, elk nadeel hep ze voordeel, and in this case it meant the closing down sale they had: pretty much everything was 2,50. In two days of digging I bagged 80 records. Some hardcore, some house compilations, 10 strictly rhythm recors from the good days, a fair bit of acid, some techno, some trance from the good days, and some odd stuff here and there.
Ofcourse I had to fool around with these stacks, and so here’s the first result: and hour long gabber mix. Some oldschool, some newschool, haardcore, nordcore, napalm rave, body lotion, H2OH and at the very end even some acid. Enjoy! Coming soon: oldschool!
In the light of the recent re-releases of old R&S material.. I got a copy of some old Orlando Voorn trax and have been thinking about making some kind of compilation of some of his stuff. He has made so much stuff that is next to impossible to give any kind of overview.
Well, I gave it a try and although the mixing is not as easy as it used to be, it was fun to do.
