DJ Funk Mini Mix
Sometimes you run into some music that you did not expect and brings a huge smile on your face.
One of the songs from back in the day when mellow was mellow and gabber was gabber is Follow Me by Aly-Us (on Strictly Rhythm)
Recently someone with the handle Oil Rat shared the track “Follow” by DJ Funk, which is clearly inspired by the Aly-Us track (2 years older). I became very enthusiastic and fortunately DJ Funk has a 20 year anniversary collection on Bandcamp. I immediately acquired it and started mixing all the acid / 303 like tracks. I love the fact he uses so many of the samples of tracks I love and have been playing for years (a lot of Fast Eddie stuff).

Hope this also makes you smile.
Hey Ed, I always enjoyed Frankie Bones’ version of Follow me from the Ghetto Technics 8 release (A2)
Hé Niek!
Looked it up – BANGER TRACK. Thanks for the heads up. Also nice to see you still check out the blog from time to time
Every so often I try to. This mix did make me smile, especially the 80’s hits inspired house tracks, and digital clash. Don’t have much DJ Funk myself, only the Pumpin tracks EP on Cosmic, so nice to check this mix out.
I also found a lot of humor in many of these tracks. Nice to pick some old acid trax and then rework them like this. Simon says hi BTW – just saw him today.
Ah, that’s nice, give him my best next time. Wow I haven’t seen him in ages either…
